Texas A&M University Women's Chorus - 20 May

Texas A&M Women's Chorus is the auditioned, women's choral ensemble of the Choral Activities in the Department of Music Activities. The purpose and philosophy of the Women's Chorus is to become a close association of students sharing a common interest in music; maintain choral excellence; study a variety of musical literature; represent Texas A&M. University and enhance the public and musical images of choral music at the local, state, national and international levels. This ensemble provides students with opportunities to develop their individual instruments, experience new and standard choral repertoire, improve musicianship, learn artistic disciplines in a collaborative setting and work to the highest musical standards.

The Texas A&M Women's Chorus is a recognized student organization that strives to promote excellence in the fine arts and to encourage cultural expansion at Texas A&M. They also aim to provide entertainment for the campus community, and to enhance the perception of the ensemble at all levels. The choir travels throughout Texas, beyond our state borders, and internationally, and performs a varied repertoire of sacred and secular classical selections. The repertoire ranges from compositions by Mendelssohn, Britten and Whitacre to pop music made famous by Adele and Taylor Swift.
The Texas A&M Women's Chorus is so much more than just a way to share music for its members. They are a group built on fostering not only musical excellence, but also leadership and sisterhood. They have their own traditions that make them a fun and unique group on campus. They hold numerous social events to encourage ladies to get to know one another, and because of this social aspect many girls create lifelong friendships and have an even better musical experience. Each spring, Women's Chorus takes a weekend tour across Texas. In the past they have travelled to the Austin, Dallas/ Fort Worth, Houston, and San Antonio areas. The intent on these tours is to share their passion for singing with audiences across Texas. Additionally, it is a way to recruit and spread the word about Women's Chorus, Choral Activities, and Texas A&M University. Following their tour, Women's Chorus participates in a Spring Concert and banquet, which allows the ladies to look back on the year and celebrate the group's accomplishments, The final performance of the academic year occurs at Aggie Muster, where all of the Choral Activities has the honor of celebrating the fallen Aggics of the past year through music. Muster is held annually on April 21st.

Every three years Women's Chorus has the opportunity to travel internationally for a week-long tour at the beginning of the summer. Previous tour destinations have included adventures in China, Canada, the Czech Republic, England, Hungary, and Slovakia.
This year they come to Romania.
